Well, it has happened – Irma couldn’t stop Mr Grim, but Covid-19 has….for now!

Having made the hard to decision to postpone the event yesterday afternoon, last night the Government Of The Virgin Islands announced far reaching plans to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in the BVI.  These include closing the border to non-residents and no gatherings over 30 people for the next 30 days.

We are looking for a suitable new date in the latter part of the year, but while the situation is changing so quickly, we don’t want to fix a new date which may have to change again.  These are extraordinary times.  We will send regular updates until there is more certainty.  All entries will automatically roll over into the new date.

We understand that this will be disappointing for you all, as it is for us.  We will try to make sure that the new date is announced far enough out to allow you to plan, and train, for it.

The Torture, as we all know and love, has been a real labour of love over the last few years and we would like to thank everyone for their support in the past, present, and future!

There may be some local competitors that feel we could run a slimmed down locals-only event as we will have nothing else to do.  As much as we like to be rebels, this would not be sensible in the face of such a public health crisis on a small island with limited medical facilities. We have to stop the spread.

Stay safe, and keep washing your hands and social distancing (this one’s not too hard for ultra runners)!
